Description

R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. R provides a large number of statistical tools and is highly extensible. We will cover the basics of R and focus on the R extensions that enable high throughput and parallel computing with R. Specifically, we will focus on how to use these extensions (and other performance improvement tools) on TACC supercomputers.

  1. Brief (3-6 slides) introduction to TACC resources
  2. Introduction to R, hands on
  3. High throughput computing with R (SNOW, launchers)
  4. hands on
  5. Parallel computing with R (Rmpi, pbdmpi)
  6. hands on
  7. Using the Xeon Phi with R
  8. hands on
